Congratulations! On the day you give birth, more than 400,000 other women will be birthing their babies. Birth is beautifully normal: women's bodies have been giving birth for thousands of years. Our bodies are strong and capable, and birth is work our bodies naturally know how to do. But that day will also be anything but normal for these new families: each birth will be an extraordinary, transforming experience for the mother and her partner!

BIRTHING YOUR BABY childbirth classes focus on:

• Providing accurate, unbiased information
• Practicing a variety of pain-coping and relaxation strategies
• Offering opportunities to explore questions and concerns

There are many ways you can prepare for a healthy and satisfying birth: by eating well and exercising; by thoughtfully choosing a caregiver and creating a birth "plan"; by learning about the normal birth process; by discussing and practicing comfort measures. Although none of these preparations guarantees a perfect birth, they all add up to a more comfortable and empowering birth experience.
